RIT Multidisciplinary Engineering Design Program's EPA Water Disinfection Project. RIT students designed and built a Solar Water Pasteurizer for the Environmental Protection Agency's P3 Competition. Solar domestic hot water collector manufactured by Gulf Thermal Corp. utilizing SOLKOTE Selective Solar Coating on its copper absorber.

This model, KYSM40, was manufactured in 1981 and installed on a residence in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. It is estimated to have generated over 306 million BTUs of energy in its flawless 28-plus year lifespan. There appears to be no deterioration of the SOLKOTE surface whatsoever. This is further evidence of the superb long-term durability of SOLKOTE. After almost 3 decades, this SOLKOTE installation shows no signs of wear from UV and moisture degradation.
