GM Wiring Harness

LO/MIT applied to wiring harness

LO/MIT is a premixed, one part system. It is supplied ready to use. No thinning or tinting is suggested or recommended. LO/MIT is heavily pigmented. Agitate thoroughly prior to and as frequently as possible during installation to disperse pigmentation and keep it in suspension. LO/MIT may be applied with rollers in some cases (coverage rates will suffer), however best installation practice is with a standard airless paint sprayer. For smaller areas, air atomization equipment can also be used (25-35PSI).

For airless equipment, remove filters and utilize a self-cleaning 6-13 or 6-15 spray tip. Set pressure level as low as possible for best coverage rates and results. Properly mixed, LOMIT’s viscosity is similar to water. LO/MIT should be applied at roughly 1 mil wet (0.001in) and will dry to less than half that (LO/MIT will change the color of the substrate, but it should still show physical surface characteristics). A second coat or thicker application will not yield better optical properties. Coverage on most surfaces should yield around 400 square feet per gallon sprayed.

Spray area should be as well ventilated as possible and operators are suggested to wear goggles, carbon filter respirators or masks, gloves and disposable or easily cleaned full body covering during application. Ambient and substrate temperature should be above freezing for application, the hotter it is, the quicker the coating will cure.

KASI Infrared Pavement Patchwork

LO/MIT helps direct radiant heat towards the pavement, maximizing pavement patching equipment efficiency

LO/MIT-I will skin dry within one minute after application. Full cure will generally occur within 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on ambient temperature and humidity. LO/MIT-II will skin dry within 5 minutes after application. Full cure may take from several hours to several weeks, depending on ambient temperature and humidity conditions present, so avoid contact and abrasion during this time. LO/MIT-II MAX will skin dry within 10 to 15 minutes after application. Full cure may take several weeks to six months or more depending on ambient temperature and humidity conditions present. LO/MIT-II and LO/MIT-II MAX are water-soluble and are NOT recommended for any exterior applications. All LO/MIT applications can be baked to expedite curing process, (LO/MIT-I & LO/MIT-II MAX: 400F, 15mins)(LO/MIT-II: 250F, 15mins).

Clean up LO/MIT-II and LO/MIT-II MAX and sprayer/lines with soap and water. Isopropyl alcohol can also be used if necessary. LO/MIT-I should be cleaned with a strong solvent like xylene, toluene or acetone. Be sure to review your sprayer’s compatibility with solvents before using LO/MIT-I. Contact the factory to request MSDS information.

To be effective, LO/MIT (and all radiant barrier technologies) MUST face a minimum two-inch airspace. It cannot be sandwiched between two different substrates. LO/MIT surface may not be painted over, tinted or adjusted in any way. Since industrial applications are virtually unlimited with many varied substrates and conditions, please contact the factory directly to discuss your particular needs and which LO/MIT Radiant Barrier Coating would be ideally suited for your application parameters.
